Core Competencies:
Manage, monitor, report and interpret all aspects of the design team’s operations and co-ordinate with other design teams
Business Development: assistance and implementation of action plans for business growth
Workforce Management and Forecasting: prepare and issue schedules for operations reporting and making recommendations
Supervision and preparation of design requirements with responsibility for hiring, training, developing and discharging
Quality Control: monitoring and assurance consistent with Introba corporate requirements and APEGBC guidelines
Review and recommend design process to ensure alignment with company policies and seek and recommend improvements and further efficiencies
Reporting in conjunction with Finance or Managing Principal to include minimum project time and profit accountability for his/her respective design team
Ensure company assets are being utilized
Authority and management of design team by upholding company policy, suggestions and recommendations to Managing Principal of necessary changes and directing the implementation of the change
Adherence and exemplification of employee rules and regulations in the areas of integrity, punctuality, attendance and reliability
Maintain cooperative relationships with other management and staff of Introba
Respect and enforce confidentiality of Company and Client information
Demonstrate tact and good professional judgment in handling difficult situations
Keep current on new developments in innovative design; included in this is participating in seminars and/or professional associations; attend trade shows relevant to company’s interests
Customer relations representative for selected Clients to establish professional rapport which can effect or substantially influence customer service and future business decisions
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide the Management Team with staff performance criteria and information on all design staff
Meet regularly with all team members to identify issues and put action plans in place
Provide workload forecasting as new projects are secured and provide progress analysis regarding prospective unsecured projects (integrating efforts of the Marketing Team)
Update Introba accounting system information for effective use by the Marketing Team
Recommend distribution of new work based on staff availability as established by the team workload requirements
Represent Introba at meetings with project clients and other project stakeholders as required
Company representative at related association meetings, plus dealing with city, provincial and federal officials
Train staff in all phases of design process to insure continuation of technical design operation when absent from the office or when staff is on vacation
Utilize leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction through mentorship and coaching
Effect and implement programs to improve the quality of our service, products and systems to meet client's requirements and expectations and to minimize costs and maximize the company's competitive position
Instill the concept of quality being the responsibility of every design team member. Promote quality issues with all members and in particular ensures that the quality control function is effectively performed
Utilized the quality assurance and control programs in the company
Assure adequate field review services are provided to ensure adherence of contract documents
Effect studies to determine cause, effect and corrective actions required to remedy deviations impairing desired standards
Skills and Qualifications:
6+ years of specific HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design experience
5-10 years of experience in mechanical site inspections, field review reports, and attendance at site meetings.
Familiarity with the BC Building Code and Vancouver Building By-law is essential
Minimum 5 years project management experience in consulting engineering
Superior interpersonal skills with clients and staff
Communication and Coaching skills
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Professional Engineer (CEng, PEng or equivalent), Applied Science Technologist (AScT) designation, or eligibility to apply
LEED Accreditation an asset
