Essential Duties:
  • Develops and maintain customer relationships

  • Identify, generate, pursue, and close new sales opportunities

  • Assess business opportunities and prospect requirements to solve challenges through a sales solution approach to outsourced/managed transportation services

  • Through an in-depth understanding of the industry and the customer market segment, apply appropriate sales techniques to close on new business opportunities

  • Apply multi-tier approach to sales activities including telephone calls, face to face meetings, prospecting, qualifying, lead generation, cold calling, etc.

  • Monitors, follows up with, and assists customer sales representatives with new leads on business opportunities

  • Conducts regular cold calls toward mining for potential business opportunities

  • Establishes and grows new business opportunities

  • Quotes customers on new lanes as requested or required

  • Conducts sales trips as required and/or when warranted to visit customer prospects

  • Design and present sales presentations

  • Coordinates and works closely with the VP of Business Development

Ancillary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates closely with Operations Management to support sales operations as needed

  • Assists Operations Management in establishing performance goals

  • Provides support to the Operations Management by covering function responsibilities when necessary

  • Collaborates with operations managers in effectively onboarding and distributing new business to appropriate customer service representatives

  • Collaborates in rehabilitating existing sales accounts as needed

  • Collaborates with operations managers, rate analyst, customer and carrier sales representatives during bidding to validate rating process

  • Collaborates with operations managers when needed to establish and implement effective operational procedures

  • Identify problems and potential issues before they happen

  • When needed, books available freight in a cost effective manner

  • Collaborates in resolving billing issues

  • Monitors customer score cards and meet customer performance metrics

  • Develops, analyzes and runs sales reports in sharing information with operations managers to measure and maintain sales performance and growth

  • Accessible by cell phone and email after hours and weekends

  • Communicates observed performance issues to operations managers
