The Job At-A-Glance:

Q2 is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join a team that is at the forefront of transitioning Q2's 22 million Online Banking users to the cloud via AWS. Initially, this role will focus on Data Center technologies, such as networking, routing switches, and firewalls. As Q2 continues its migration to the cloud, the role will evolve to include more cloud-related work, primarily in AWS and also Azure. We are looking for an engineer with experience in both Data Center technologies and cloud environments, and a desire to grow their cloud expertise.

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will work on production systems that deliver Q2’s Online and Mobile banking solutions to financial institutions. When systems experience issues, you’ll collaborate with team members to quickly restore services, investigate root causes, and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.

A Typical Day:

  • Real-time support for critical service disruptions, maintaining and improving production cloud environments as we transition from Data Center to cloud.

  • Collaborating across business and technology teams, providing analysis, thought leadership, and proactive solutions.

  • Working closely with the Incident Response Team to perform post-mortem analysis, identifying why services degraded or failed.

  • Proactively analyzing environments to identify opportunities for performance improvements and operational efficiency.

  • Using a wide range of tools to identify and resolve software bugs or misconfigurations.

  • Working across various departments to educate others and improve processes, leveraging both technical and communication skills.

  • Recommending process improvements and creating detailed process documentation.

  • Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in customer-facing scenarios.

Bring Your Passion, Do What You Love. Here’s What We’re Looking For:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience in Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches.

  • Familiarity with Jira and Agile methodologies, with strong organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.

  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows Systems Administration.

  • Knowledge of VMWare and cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.

  • Knowledge of networking concepts and virtualized environments.

  • Experience with Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, Cisco ASR Routers, and Cisco ACI for switching.
