Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Integrated Components and Solutions Division is currently seeking an Electronic Product Support Engineer to provide support of electronic components utilized in electrification products.

As Electronic Product Support Engineer, you will have a significant impact on overall product quality and customer experience for electrification products. This role will develop product support material and strategies for software and electronic components in our New Product Introduction process. The incumbent will own product support deliverables for multiple NPI programs.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead product support deliverables on multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
  • Provide product support strategy leadership on how best to support Caterpillar dealership technicians
  • Work closely with Electrification + Energy Solutions product support team to develop service publications
  • Provide technical issue leadership on electronic components and software.
  • Implementation and utilization of standard support processes to respond, restore, and resolve issues. 
  • Advocate on behalf of the dealer and customer to resolve technical product issues with product development engineering. 
  • Act as the liaison between the Caterpillar implementation teams, product development teams, and other support team members ensuring appropriate corrective actions are performed and that industry standard change management and support processes are followed.
  • Drive Voice of Dealer for service strategies during New Product Introduction. This would include fault code strategies, electronics service tools, serviceable level of parts, etc

Key Relationships:

  • NPI Program Manager: frequent discussions regarding priorities, directions, and assistance.
  • Product Support Team: frequent interaction and discussions with Caterpillar Marine team.
  • Engineering: frequent discussions regarding customer problems. Liaison to ensure problem diagnosis, information on patches/fixes and functionality issues are resolved.

Education Requirement:

Engineering Degree or equivalent experience (3-5 years working experience)

What Skills You Will Have:

Analytical Thinking:
• Ability to analyze complex engineering issues and determine the best approach for dealer technicians to troubleshoot correctly.
• Knowledge of utilizing flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.

Effective Communications:
• Ability to effectively communicate with technically and non-technically skilled customers and dealers. Experience leading technical discussions to explain to design teams how dealer technicians will utilize information.

Project Management:
• Knowledge of Caterpillar New Product Introduction


Product Testing:
• Ability to utilize Caterpillar ET, SIS web and other tools to test features that dealer technicians will utilize for troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:
• Ability to troubleshoot Caterpillar electronic systems utilizing service tool and proper fault code utilization for specific failure modes. Ability to lead discussions regarding the correct methods of troubleshooting.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
