The Senior Analyst is part of the North American Retail Payments (NARP)’ Vendor Management and Operations (VMO) Team, supporting an assigned vendor and all activities relating to it. 

The Senior Analyst will ingest ongoing data and reporting from vendors and utilize the data to provide a holistic view of the current financial and non-financial performance of the vendors, as compared to contractual guidelines and thresholds. This may include overall vendor dashboards, such as on PowerBI, encapsulating a holistic review of the vendors, while more specifically data and reporting tailored on creating and finding financial and non-financial efficiencies.

The role will conduct analysis required to inform strategic recommendations and considers the “big picture” when assessing whether a course of action is advisable with the vendors and will align to the strategic requirement of this position, and to align to the overall strategic priorities of NARP.

The role will also assist in establishing or supporting the ongoing strategic initiatives/changes and multi-year strategic roadmaps. This may include ongoing or new projects and initiatives, such as analyzing current card plastic and collateral stock, compared with future growth, and then optimizing stock strategy to find financial efficiencies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and/or maintain vendor dashboards using existing vendor data and reporting.
  • Optimize and centralize data and reporting to ensure consistency with vendors.
  • Review existing contracts and analyze and strategize vendor performance, and potential solutions or financial remedies.
  • Analyze business performance data to produce weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports, and ad hoc reports as requested, in a concise and consistent manner, soliciting input from a number of sources both internal and external to the business unit.
  • Monitor established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), track performance, deviations, and/or breaches. Taking action to remedy the SLA concerns, notifying internal stakeholders and the applicable vendor. Working through the breaches from start to finish.
  • Manage metrics tracking and business performance reporting issues; escalate more complex issues to the Manager, if necessary.
  • Providing overviews on results and tracking of trends. Create and/or update internal processes related to vendor activities. Create new processes based on internal opportunities. Ensure processes are up to date for any required internal reviews. 
  • Utilize new/existing vendor reporting to find financial and non-financial efficiencies, leading to multi-year strategic roadmaps.
  • Facilitate contract amendment activities between BMO and the vendor.
  • Manage BMO-Vendor engagement including scheduled meetings, touchpoints, monthly and quarterly reviews. Participate in said meetings, maintain proper documentation, prepare agendas and issue those in advance, scribe meetings as required and send out recaps.
  • Manage BMO-Vendor event management, setting up and organizing strategic reviews between the vendor and BMO. Organize event program, spaces, agendas, and any other required activity.
  • Manage internal and external contact lists, including managing team repositories.
  • Ensure all vendor management systems and tools are up to date and comply to audit (internal and external) requirements through monthly audit checks, confirmations, etc.
  • Initiate and lead work effort to ensure accurate payment of all vendor invoices, ensure timely payments and manage and resolve day to day issues related to invoice, escalate more complex issues to the manager, if necessary.  Verify on a monthly basis that the Administrator is accurately following the process:  correct cost centers, accruals.
  • Interact closely with assigned vendors; strong relationship management aspect as this is a multi-supplier, multi-business group environment.
  • Ensure appropriate framework and controls are in place to identify and address financial, reputational and compliance risks and gaps including a process for escalation to internal stakeholders.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Assist with any other governance or reporting activities related to assigned vendor.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Possesses a degree and/or 3 to 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in creating vendor dashboards, utilizing extensive data and reporting, and applications such as PowerBI, Python, Tableau.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products such as Excel, able to build pivot tables, Macros; PowerPoint; etc.
  • Strong knowledge of vendor management and/or BMO Product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of TSYS and Giesecke + Devrient (G+D), the companies, and systems, will be considered an asset.
  • Industry-specific knowledge and experience is an asset. Possesses solid business knowledge in the Finance, Banking, Payments Industry.
  • Strong understanding of financials, budgets and invoicing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of industry practices and reporting fundamentals.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written), especially communicating to external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and task focused.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated with a commitment to excellence.
  • Strong conceptual skills; creativity, lateral thinker, ability to detail with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.

Salary:

$56,000.00 - $103,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
