Are you ready to kick-start your career in one of the most specialized and dynamic areas of international insurance? AIG is looking for an ambitious Junior Underwriter to join our Nordic Financial Lines team in Copenhagen.

In this role, you will train to become a specialist in Management Liability (MLC). You will work with high-stakes products like Directors & Officers (D&O) liability, Crime insurance, and Employment Practices Liability, protecting the decision-makers of the Nordic region’s largest companies.

This position is based in our centrally located Copenhagen office and serves clients across the Nordic region – Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

What’s in it for you?

At AIG, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of professional excellence and a healthy work-life balance. As this is a junior position, your development is our priority.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • You will learn the craft of underwriting through hands-on mentorship, working directly alongside experienced senior underwriters and leaders across the Nordic region who are invested in your growth.

  • Although based in Copenhagen, you will be part of a truly integrated Nordic team, collaborating daily with colleagues in Sweden, Norway and Finland to solve complex challenges together.

  • We believe in a “Learn-It-All” culture where you will be given responsibility from day one, supported by a network of regional and international specialists within AIG’s global network.

  • You will enjoy flexibility in managing your schedule, allowing you to align your work with business needs and your personal priorities.

  • We offer a competitive compensation package including a bonus plan, pension, and well-being benefits, as well as an additional 10 days of paid leave annually (five weeks + ten top-up days) to ensure you have time to recharge.

Your impact and responsibilities

As a Junior Underwriter, you will build a strong foundation in risk analysis and portfolio management. You will support the team in driving growth while gradually taking ownership of your own tasks and broker relationships.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing the financial health and legal exposure of companies to make informed underwriting decisions on Management Liability risks.

  • Structuring and pricing insurance policies that align with AIG’s strategy and client needs.

  • Driving and developing AIG’s Management Liability portfolio in Denmark and across the Nordics, acting as a trusted partner to our brokers.

  • Developing strong relationships with brokers and clients through negotiation and daily commercial dialogue.

  • Working with internal teams, including claims and legal specialists, to provide comprehensive solutions.

What you’ll need to succeed

This role is designed for an early-career professional with zero to a couple of years of experience. You do not need to be an insurance expert from day one, but you must have the drive to become one.

We believe you are a match if you have:

  • A university degree in Law, Economics, Business or a related field.

  • Fluency in English and Danish (additional Nordic languages are seen as a plus).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and legal data.

  • A commercial mindset and the confidence to pick up the phone and build relationships with external partners.

  • A proactive and structured approach to your work, with the ability to operate independently while contributing to the team's success.

Nordic Financial Lines

You will be part of our Nordic Financial Lines team of 20+ professionals specializing in a wide range of commercial risks. In Copenhagen, you will be seated with skilled colleagues working on other Financial Lines products, while reporting to the Nordic MLC Manager based in Stockholm. We operate as a tightly integrated Nordic team where we prioritize collaboration, knowledge sharing and shared success.
