Principal Software Engineer

Our company has pushed for a Quality First” approach for surfacing our Business Capabilities to our EG developer community. We will be building out the full-stack platform that allows domain teams to be productive in end-to-end flows from onboarding to transacting and evolving their technical and business successes. Our platform also supports advanced capabilities like no-code workflows and theme-able UIs beyond APIs.

 

You will play a critical role in creating engineering solutions that enable all externalized capabilities in use by Expedias travelers, employees, and partners operate as expected, and are updated as needed through product life cycle.

 

What you'll do:

  • Lead the definition, architecture, implementation and delivery of the most complex cross cutting technical initiatives across the Platform Quality organization.
  • You will be Hands-on solving complex engineering problems, making technical decisions, architecting, designing and implementing solutions demonstrating business impact via enhancements in productivity and quality of customer experience.
  • Ensure that the teams within Platform and rest of Expedia are aligned to a coherent technical vision on quality.
  • Influence cross functionally and ensure productivity, quality and effectiveness. Hold others to a high technical and quality bar.
  • Drive awareness among other teams and establish yourself as an authority for technical decisions within the technical and business community across EG.
  • Proactively drive and advocate adoption of engineering best practices, leading edge technologies and solutions that increase the ease, velocity, quality and efficiency in ensuring that our products provide the best customer experiences.
  • Document architecture, designs, action plans with incremental deliverables, results with demonstrated business impact, audience appropriate executive summaries and detailed actionable reports.
  • Mentor Senior engineers across the organization.

 

Who you are:

  • Expert in innovating, architecting, designing, implementing and building tools and engineering products that increase productivity, reliability and quality of applications.
  • Creative and detail oriented, highly skilled in solving complex engineering problems, and multi-tasking across initiatives.
  • Experienced technical leader who makes sound technical decisions and tradeoffs that benefit business and influences broad adoption of engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in documenting architecture, designs, action plans with incremental deliverables, business results, executive summaries and data driven reports with metrics and actionable insights based on in-depth analysis.
  • Experience in identifying and leveraging industry standards and leading-edge technologies that increase efficiency of quality engineering.
  • Experience in the application of ML in software reliability and productivity is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering. 5+ years in technical leadership roles.
  • Bachelors in computer science or related field; or equivalent related professional experience

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000.00 to $309,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
