Role Definition

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the Mapleton Facility is rewarding work that demands focus on safety, quality, and a commitment to helping our customers build a better world.

We are looking for a self-motivated, disciplined Facilities Project Engineer within our Advanced Planning Department at the Mapleton IL. facility. In the role, you will need a high degree of organization and planning to support our new and exciting facility vision. You will have the opportunity to engage with some of the best and brightest engineers working on cutting edge technologies while leveraging global manufacturing networks to deliver on what our facility will look like in future years. What you will do

  • Follow NCI (New Capital Introduction) Process Flow / Gate Reviews

  • Collaborate with customer groups, Facilities / Maintenance, Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, EHS, accounting and purchasing are involved in the approval process.

  • Be responsible to achieve desired outputs on multiple concurrent individual and team projects.

  • Develop plans for facilities projects, prepare and establish priorities for cost effectiveness, manage budgeting and purchasing matters pertaining to these projects.

  • Work with Internal / External Suppliers to plan & implement facility wide projects to assure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.

  • Coordinate compatibility of existing and new assets and/or systems

  • Provide direction and guidance to other project owners to assure the most efficient and sustainable effect on the facility.

  • Ensure implementation of modern technology and verify the effectiveness related to facility processes modifications.

Skills you must have

  • Process Management: Extensive knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

  • Project Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives

  • Facilities Management: Extensive knowledge of safety measures for physical facilities; ability to maintain, care for and develop commercial and physical facilities.

  • Emergency Management: Working knowledge of emergency management tools and techniques in a manufacturing organization; ability to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.

  • Service Excellence: Working knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.

  • Problem Solving: Extensive understanding of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Top candidates will also have

  • Academic credentials in an engineering discipline desired

  • Industrial, manufacturing, or foundry experience

  • Capital project management experience

  • Controls Systems and/or PLC experience

  • Experience with permitting and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated direct and/or indirect leadership capabilities
