Accounts Payable Team Lead

Huntsman is seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead Region supporting the Global Business Services (GBS) – Procure to Pay organization located in Costa Rica. This position will report to the Accounts Payable Manager.

Job Scope

The Accounts Payable Team Lead is responsible for leading and supporting the Accounts Payable team across the AMER region while ensuring operational excellence, compliance, stakeholder satisfaction, and continuous process improvement. This role combines people leadership, operational ownership, and a strong focus on standardization, controls, and transformation initiatives.

In summary, as the Accounts Payable Team Lead, you will:

• Lead and support Accounts Payable analysts.
• Oversee daily Accounts Payable operations, including invoice processing and payment execution.
• Ensure service delivery meets established SLAs and KPIs.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex Accounts Payable issues.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
• Monitor payment runs and resolve exceptions in partnership with Treasury.
• Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders.
• Resolve vendor inquiries, disputes, and escalations.
• Partner with outsourced/BPO providers to ensure service effectiveness.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency improvements.
• Support Accounts Payable projects, standardization efforts, and transformation initiatives.
• Promote the adoption of digital tools and reporting enhancements.
• Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
• Support internal and external audits while ensuring compliance requirements are met.
• Lead reporting activities and monitor team performance metrics.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in Accounts Payable within a shared services or corporate environment.
• Experience leading, coaching, or supporting team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Fluency in English.

• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience supporting multinational or regional Accounts Payable operations.

• Office-based or hybrid work environment, depending on business requirements.
• Frequent collaboration with global teams across multiple time zones.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic shared services environment.
