Motion is an Australian-based engineering solutions provider servicing the mining, manufacturing and construction industries. Our specialist business units operate across fluid power, electro-hydraulic engineering and design, undercarriages, and specialised maintenance and project services. 

Motion Australia has a significant presence in the Australian hydraulic sector through its CRAM businesses. 

About the role 

We are looking for a skilled technician with good fluid power experience, a proven ability to be able to work unsupervised and with high-level customer-service focus.  

This role includes work in both workshop and customer site environments. Regular travel throughout New South Wales is required, with occasional interstate travel.

What Your Day Will Look Like: 

• Diagnose hydraulic faults using test equipment and your hydraulic system knowledge  

• Identify and quote hydraulic components that require repair or replacement   

• Work with hydraulic components and systems - breakdown, repair, and overhaul  

• Install and commission hydraulic circuits on new and established equipment  

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels   

• Ability to complete work in both workshop and site environments   

Skills and Experience: 

• Demonstrated experience working as a Fitter and Machinist or Diesel Fitter is essential  

• Certification in Hydraulics will be highly regarded   

• Willingness and ability to travel throughout NSW and occasionally interstate, including extended periods away from home. 

• A current valid driver’s licence – essential 

• Able to understand and find faults on hydraulic circuits and components, including cylinders, pumps, valves, and motors  

• Competent to read and interpret engineering & hydraulic circuit drawings  

• Excellent interaction and communication skills   

• A customer-focused attitude with strong communication skills  

• Ability to work unsupervised and follow direction  

• Computer literate at an Intermediate level
