Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Financial Services Manager to join our team at our Paso Robles Branch.

The Financial Services Manager supervises and directs the sales production functions of a Retail Branch office. Responsible for ensuring branch and customer financial success, customer satisfaction, and staff development. Achieves sales goals and financial objectives for their branch. Ensures high quality processes and ethical sales in the branch. Directs and develops subordinates who are providing a full range of banking products and services. Retains and expands relationships with existing customers and promotes and develops new business. Identifies opportunities and sells a full suite of Retail Banking deposit and lending products to consumers and small businesses. Works directly with customers on complex consumer, business, and fiduciary account structures. Maintains excellent knowledge of compliance requirements, Bank policies and procedures, and Bank products and services. Represents the Bank in the community.

What you will do:

  • Has a superior understanding of consumer and small business deposit, treasury and credit products along with other internal and third party financial services. Ability to perform complex new account, lending, and service related transactions for customers while adhering to all Bank policies, procedures and banking regulations. Identifies and assesses customer needs and goals, offering Bank products and quality referrals to partners. Sources and develops new business by expanding and deepening relationships with existing customers and new customers. Assists the Retail Branch Manager in internal and external business development, while managing the branch portfolio of customers.

  • Manages a team of employees. Provides leadership, coaching, feedback and developmental support. Leads daily huddles in conjunction with branch management and regular branch production meetings. Trains employees on cross-functions to ensure smooth operations of the branch. Hires new employees, conducts performance assessments, initiates disciplinary actions, and recommends promotions.

  • Works with the Retail Branch Manager to manage the sale of branch deposit and lending products in alignment with the Bank’s goals. Responsible for collaborating with the Retail Branch Manager to develop and execute a strategic team plan for branch success, including business development, customer retention, employee development and retention, succession planning, branch efficiency, and operational soundness. Monitors and analyzes financial performance, prepares reports, and makes recommendations for improvement. Manages and reports forecasting for the branch in support of the Retail Branch Manager.

  • Ensures exemplary customer services standards in the branch. Manages appropriate staffing and skill levels in branch to support customer and business needs. Addresses and resolves customer complaints or concerns promptly.

  • Coordinates effective Retail branch operations and sales with the Retail Banking Services Officer, promoting teamwork, excellent customer service, cross-sales, and the promotion of Bank products and services. Ability to perform platform and operations functions including teller transactions, night deposit, cash control activities, and opening of new accounts. Maintains compliance with established internal operational standards and Federal and State regulations to protect the interest of the Bank and customers.

  • Manages the office in the absence of the Retail Branch Manager.

  • Represents the Bank in civic and community events to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Bank, and to expand business opportunities. Ensures active community participation and leadership, including CRA activities, in the local community.

Who you are:

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience with an emphasis in sales required.  

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience preferred.

  • Notary license preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of Bank Products and Services, policies and procedures related to new accounts and sales functions.

  • Thorough knowledge of small business and consumer credit principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal banking regulations as they relate to new accounts and operations functions.

  • Leadership ability to supervise and direct subordinate employees, and provide coaching and development.

  • Ability to persuade, including the value and benefits of using the Bank’s services and products.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written), including customer service, listening, and responding appropriately to requests from customers.

  • External outreach skills including prospecting, appointment setting, and sales presentations to decision makers

Pay Range:  $66,560 - $76,000    annually

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
