Job Description

The School of Nursing housed in the College of Health Sciences invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the Director of Assessment and Accreditation (DAA). Reporting directly to the School of Nursing Dean, the DAA will promote a culture of assessment by working closely with faculty, deans, program coordinators, staff, and students to systematically define and assess student learning outcomes at the program and course level, which supports the accreditation process and the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) program requirements. Using appropriate programs to perform analysis, this position will work closely with the University’s Office of Institutional Data and Analytics to monitor and assess student and faculty effectiveness.

The ideal candidate must be organized in coordinating the complexities of assessment and evaluation, demonstrate enthusiasm, actively participate in problem-solving, and be comfortable managing ambiguity and multiple priorities. The DAA will supervise the Assessment and Testing Coordinator.

This is a full-time, 12-month staff position located on Tarleton's main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Requires the ability to work remotely at the University’s discretion.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assessment

  • Create statistical reports to monitor student outcomes for all programs.

  • Forecast assessment needs of the SON and develop appropriate methods for collecting data for future evaluations.

  • Develop models to identify factors that most significantly influence student outcomes to inform programmatic decision-making.

  • Interpret assessment findings and prepare assessment reports with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence programmatic decision-making.

  • Design and conduct periodic faculty workshops on academic assessment and educational effectiveness topics (e.g., learning outcomes, annual and five-year program reviews, formative and summative assessment methods, design, and use of rubrics).

Accreditation

  • Coordinate assessment, outcomes, and accreditation activities needed for SACSCOC, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and TBON compliance purposes (e.g., NEPIS report and CANEP surveys).

  • Participate in collecting and analyzing assessment data to support accreditation and program reviews, including faculty education and disseminating results associated with the SON total program evaluation plan.

Research, Grants, Conferences

  • Responsible for generating, analyzing, and disseminating evaluation and research findings for assigned projects in curriculum, evaluation, and learning outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and the SON executive leadership team to determine current assessment, evaluation, and research needs and to assist in measuring program learning outcomes.

  • Attend conferences, engage in professional development to benchmark best practices in curricular outcomes in nursing education, and present that information to the faculty.

  • Stay informed of and engaged in the latest scientific advancements – including artificial intelligence and machine learning in assessments, outcomes, and data science related to nursing student education, progression, and graduation outcomes.

  • Optimize and maintain a database of key performance indicators from the TPEP, produce relevant dashboards for accreditation assessment, and outcome data for research purposes.

  • Participate and support grant proposal efforts related to accreditation, assessment, and outcomes that will promote the mission of the SON, College, and University.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Experience: 10 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in a related field

  • Experience: Three to Five years of experience directly related to the abovementioned roles and responsibilities. 

Salary

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary is $72,870.00 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
