Job Description:

The VIC/TAS/WA/SA Senior Project Manager is accountable for end-to-end safe and timely delivery of capital and expense projects for the VIC/TAS/WA/SA region in line with the Australian integrated network strategy, market plan, capex/revex budget and investment commitments. The role manages the end-to-end delivery of asset projects in line with bp and regulatory requirements, ensuring an uncompromised focus on safety and operational risk management, as assigned by the local Construction lead.

Responsibilities

This role will report to the VIC/TAS/WA/SA Construction Lead and will be accountable for regional project delivery execution and performance. Will hold decision rights for local business within approved strategy and capex/ revex/ HR DoA including:

  • Managing end-to-end safe and timely delivery of capital and expense projects in line with the MC&M integrated network plan, capital and revenue budget, and commercial expectations of the investment, based on financial delegations of authority, as assigned by the VIC/TAS/WA/SA Construction lead.

  • Ensure all onsite works are completed in line with bp’s OHS/HSSE safety policies and procedures

  • Develop, monitor and control critical project requirements across retail, fuel and EV assets.

  • Responsible for project work, engineering assurance & contractor performance to ensure delivery of project outcomes

  • Work closely with consultants, suppliers and contractors to ensure projects are delivered contractual requirements that meet safety and engineering standards

  • Provide a project execution strategy that has a clear design, operating strategy and scope for project

  • Be the key contact for external entities such as business partners, government authorities and regulators

  • Design and construct contracts to be driven with an understanding of AS4906 & AS4902

Safety

  • Strong ownership of Safety and Operational Risk management through systematic and thorough application and assurance of OMS (2.5, 5.1 & 5.2), WPCG requirements.

  • Conducts onsite Control of Work Self Verification and Safety Leadership Principals in Action audits

  • Acts as a local Contract Job Representative, inline with the OMS 2.5 requirements

  • Strong leadership and promotion of safe behaviours in line with bp’s safety leadership principles, driving a positive safety culture across the team, wider business and contractor base. Everything to be considered through a safety lens.

  • Ensure personal and team compliance with safety, cyber, ethics and compliance policies and processes, follows procedures, and provides an exemplary display of ‘who we are’.

  • Deliver sustainable growth by putting the customer perspective front of mind and enabling frontline operational success through reliable, safe and timely project delivery.

Operations & Execution

  • Project interface for the wider business.

  • Manages project forecasting and actions the CVP requirements inline with the OMS 5.1 and OMS 5.2.

  • Conducts Onsite Asset Verification

  • Ensure project documentation and handover registers are completed on time and transferred to the regional maintenance representatives.

  • Ensures that project closeouts are actioned within 3 months of handing over a project to the business.

  • Responsible for addressing all critical project control elements, including Safety, Cost, Schedule, Quality, Risk and Information Management.

  • Delivers projects for WA/SA that manage risk, optimise return on investment and support investment expectations.

  • Leads the mid select review for the assigned projects

  • Develops and implements front-end-loading and project execution plans, adhering to thorough project management process and control principles.

  • Achieves necessary internal and external regional authority approvals in timeframes to support the project.

  • Ensures adherence and assurance against bp technical standards.

  • Manages effective contractor and supplier partnerships with support from HSE&C and Procurement to effectively meet program requirements.

Performance management & top line growth

  • Demonstrate effective project management skills to ensure timely development and delivery of project.

  • Drives performance culture across projects, tracking cost, schedule and safety.

Strategy Execution

  • Work with regional business managers and network development leads to implement the projects for the VIC/TAS/WA/SA region.

  • Actively contribute to regional forums through clear understanding of project matters and commercial impacts to assist in the advancement of the business.

Communicating and influencing

  • Conveys information fluently and succinctly, interpreting and clarifying details and explaining rationale to build agreement across a broad collaborator set.

  • Influences and proactively builds strong, productive relationships across the organisation and with external parties.

  • Works closely with teams across AsPac MC&M, including network, maintenance, property teams.

People

  • Responsible for leading projects in coordination with project specialists, engineers and outsourced providers to ensure end-to-end delivery of the ANZ pipeline of projects in line with the network plan and capital budget.

  • Maintain all projects supervision and control of works for activities undertaken to support bp operations for the WA/SA region.

Education, skills & experience:

Education

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering or Construction Management

Skills

  • Knowledge of engineering, safety & operational risk management, and project delivery.

  • Proven skills in managing capex and revex budgets across projects and programs of work.

  • Strong influencing skills in managing internal collaborators and relationships with external project, engineering and construction providers.

  • Advanced level of experience with risk analysis, mitigation and contingency planning.

  • Knowlegde of MS Office Suite and project management / enterprise reporting software

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Proven track to lead project teams to achieve business objectives.

  • Capable of traveling up to 20%

Qualifications

  • Extensive relevant experience in a related technical environment such as Engineering Design / Consulting / Project & Construction Management

  • Experience with projects ranging in value from $250K to $5M+ (including greenfield and brownfield construction and contracts)

  • Experience in the EV charging, retail or the fuel industry advantageous
