Department Overview

The Global Digital Signal Processing Software department is responsible for architecting, designing and developing real-time software for digital communications and audio for Motorola Solutions worldwide portfolio two-way radio products.

The team is responsible for delivering Audio and RF Signal Processing Software and has ownership of all Applications Processor DSP subsystems, including Audio Management.


Job Description

This position is for a DSP Software Engineering Co-Op opportunity at Motorola Solutions in Plantation, Florida. We are looking for engineers with a strong interest in DSP and Embedded Systems to help expand our team and deliver the next generation of communication devices to our customers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work in an Agile/Scrum team to analyze, design, implement cutting edge real-time software for DSP algorithms and Low Level device drivers to be used in wireless products.

  • Teamwork in a multi-site, world-wide development environment.

  • Finding, tracking, and repairing device software defects.

  • Create and execute unit, integration, system, load, and acceptance tests.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing and/or Digital Communication

  • Experience in C/C++ is a plus

  • Knowledge of Machine Learning is a plus

  • Experience with, Matlab, Python, Perl is a plus

  • Experience in real-time embedded software is a plus

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills is a plus

  • Experience using version control; Git is a plus

  • Experience with Linux is a plus

  • Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus


Basic Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering.

  • Must graduate on or after May 2025.

  • Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students).
