Job Description Summary

               

Through the direction of a team leader, Ag Operations Specialist, or fleet coordinator this position is responsible for the operation of tractor “yard dog” to facilitate the delivery of raw materials to the plant and warehouse personnel. Yard dog drivers are responsible for safe and efficient operation of their trucks and for maintaining all pertinent records and paperwork of trans loaded raw material.

Job Description

  • Drives “yard dog” tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations.
  • Maneuvers truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed. Connecting and disconnecting up 65 times per 12-hour shift.
  • Inspects truck before shifts and submits report indicating truck condition.
  • Loads or unloads, or assists in loading and unloading truck at Lockwood.
  • Services and maintains truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.  Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Must perform daily risk review safety engagement activities.
  • May be required to train other employees as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Knowledge of scale system for weighing loads in and out.
  • Must be able to work in the heat and cold. 
  • Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires two to three years of related experience and/or training.
  • A valid (CDL) driver’s license and Medical Card. Must be able to pass Lamb Weston’s vehicle driving test, background check and drug screen.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in the operation of truck equipment, including its design, uses, emergency repair, and maintenance.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Some basic computer skills (for printing tickets at scale shack).

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s work location, job duties, experience and expertise. A reasonable hourly estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $25.84 - $26.34
