Job Title:

RN CC Transport - MCES-Ground Transportation

Job Summary:

To provide optimum critical/emergency care to sick or injured patients transported within our facilities or other designated facilities such as tertiary facilities.

Education & Experience

Two (2) years experience in Emergency and/or Critical Care.


Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:  Valid RN License., BLS required.  ACLS, (For Adult Transport) or PALS, (For Peds Transport) preferred.  ABLS Certification and Specialty Certification such as CEN, CCRN, or CFRN preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat injuries and disease for adult, pediatric, and/or neonatal patients. Knowledge of agents, equipment, procedures, and techniques for the provision of emergency and critical care nursing for interfacility and scene transports. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm in emergency conditions. Ability to provide physical and psychological treatment and comfort to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans, administers, and documents nursing care for patients during transport.
  • Provides physical and psychological comfort to patients. Monitors patient condition during transport and adverse reactions to drugs of treatment.
  • Precepts students and residents as needed.
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are available and functional and reports any equipment failures.
  • Acts in a professional manner and promotes a positive image of UMHC by participating in community outreach programs.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance of patient care provided during flight transport. Prepares and maintains applicable reports and documentation.
  • Scheduling flexibility to ensure 24/7 coverage of the transport team.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives related to the program.
  • Maintains clinical and age specific competencies.

    Physical and Environmental Demands
    Requires constant exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, constant travelling to offsite locations, constant activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, frequent climbing, frequent crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
