Summary
Physician moonlighters in radiation oncology primarily initiate treatment for inpatient and ambulatory patients and conduct medical evaluations for reported concerns. Their services must provide a reasonable clinical assessment to ensure patient safety and stability. This includes ordering medications for symptoms like pain, nausea, hypertension, electrolyte imbalances, or acute radiation therapy complications, consistent with the scope of a board-certified internal medicine or radiation oncology physician. Their interventions aim to stabilize patients and maintain safety, not to perform definitive or elective procedures unless urgently needed before the attending radiation oncologist is available. Non-urgent care should be deferred to the attending physician when possible. Strong communication with the radiation oncology team is essential, and additional duties may be assigned by leadership.Job Title: Moonlighter Radonc
