Job Title:             Event Security Officer

Reports To:         Security Manager

FLSA Status:      Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Pay Rate:            $18.00/hour

Venue:                 Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview

Location:             Syracuse, NY

THE ROLE

As an Event Security Officer at the Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview, you will guard, patrol, and monitor the venue premises to keep guests, band members, team members, and vendors safe, and prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules.

This is a seasonal, part-time, event-based position that will end September 2024 with the possible extension of the position to The Oncenter for the Fall/Winter season.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Monitor and authorize entrances and exits to guard against theft and maintain security and safety of the premises.

  • Conduct bag searches and operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.

  • Circulate among guests and/or employees to preserve safety, order, and protect the venue property.

  • Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.

  • Serve as a check point personnel to ensure all that enter your post have proper credentials.

  • Respond to safety & security calls in a professional and timely manner.

  • Investigate & compile accurate incident reports.

  • May write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.

  • Adhere to the dress code and present yourself in a friendly and approachable manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • New York State Security Guard License,

  • High school diploma,

  • 1-3 years of verifiable experience with customer service and security,

  • Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment, and enforcement procedures.

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

  • High level of confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive situations.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Acute sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

  • A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Position requires constant walking, climbing stairs, lifting, and carrying 50 lbs.+, and occasional sitting.
