Job Description:

The DHHS Behavioral Health Division is seeking a State Opioid Response Program Coordinator (DHHS Program Coordinator C73260) who will be responsible for the coordination of multiple projects and programs under the State Opioid Response Grant, such as the No Cost Naloxone Program.


 

Examples of work include:

  • The management and monitoring of contracts.
  • Strategic planning and implementation of initiatives to increase program knowledge.
  • Create a naloxone distribution and saturation plan focused on areas in Nebraska with high rates of overdose mortality.
  • Training of peers, first responders, and other key community sectors on the recognition of opioid overdose and appropriate use of naloxone and other opioid overdose reversal medications.
  • Developing strategic messaging on the consequences of opioid and stimulant misuse, particularly focused on the dangers of counterfeit fentanyl pills targeted at youth.
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly (or bi-monthly) meetings (with related briefing materials) with State Opioid Response partners.
  • Provide technical assistance to program partners.
  • Develop and prepare documents for submission of required federal and state reporting. This involves but is not limited to grant writing, needs assessments, and evaluation.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, health sciences, public health, education, law or related field OR experience in the development of operational policies and procedures, performing quality assurance analysis/evaluation of programs; grant writing, contract management, or leading community-based health/social care groups. Related coursework, training, and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.

OtherValid Driver’s License or ability to provide authorized independent transportation. This is an in-office position.  Remote work is not available


 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Naloxone (Narcan)
  • Knowledge of implementation science and applied research in prevention programming.
  • Fiscal management skills.
  • Knowledge of primary prevention strategies.
  • Knowledge of best practices in prevention program capacity-building and sustainability.
  • Ability to support community-based organizations in building capacity.
  • Effective computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
