In Student Life the coordinator serves as the primary liaison between student organizations, Student Life, and administrative offices while assisting student leaders in planning and executing events, workshops, and activities. They oversee event approval requests in Campus Groups, manage event space reservations in collaboration with the Assistant Director, and facilitate monthly Student Life Committee meetings with the Pre-Alumni Association President. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for preparing and publishing the monthly Student Activity Calendar and providing administrative support to the Director of Student Life, including paperwork and correspondence.
The Program Coordinator will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ross Fitness Center, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. They develop and implement fitness and wellness programs, such as group fitness classes, personal training, and wellness challenges, while also providing guidance on fitness goals to students and staff to foster an inclusive fitness culture. The role includes organizing and managing intramural sports leagues, fitness challenges and special wellness events, scheduling fitness classes and workshops, and promoting programs through social media, campus newsletters, and flyers. The coordinator enforces safety standards, oversees emergency procedures, conducts equipment safety checks, and manages access control to ensure only authorized users enter the facility. They also maintain an inventory of fitness equipment and supplies, ensuring timely ordering and maintenance, and provide orientation and training on proper equipment usage and safety protocols.
In supervision and administrative duties, the coordinator recruits, trains, and supervises work-study students, including fitness instructors and personal trainers, while also collecting and analyzing student engagement and fitness center usage data to assess program effectiveness. They prepare monthly reports on student activities and fitness center operations, collaborate with campus partners (e.g., Mental Health Services, Student Organizations) to promote holistic wellness initiatives.
