Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a strong DevOps / Full Stack/ Data engineer to be part of the Security Observability Platform team. You will take part, and often take the lead in designing, building and managing sub-systems of a large scale, multi-tier, distributed stack on hybrid infrastructure platforms. You should have a curious engineering mind to learn about changing landscape, bring your collaboration, thought leadership, design and implementation skills, and come up with solutions for the challenges of scale.Job Description:
Job Requirements:
Develop, maintain and support a large, hybrid Security Observability Platform.
Work with a broad set of internal and external data providers to onboard, standardize and enrich data for security and observability needs.
Maintain platforms like Splunk, Elastic, central log collection and infrastructure across cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
Ensure the availability and quality of data by closely collaborating with data sources and providers.
Dive deep and learn everyday about Observability at PayPal and developments in the industry.
Experiment, adopt and recommend tools and technologies that can improve our customer experience.
Continuous improvement strategies for the platform scalability, reliability, availability and security.
Mentor our engineering talent to build a stronger collective skillset.
Support Observability leadership in long term strategies and decision making.
Should be able to:
Triage and troubleshoot issues, provide solutions and implement fixes.
Manage time effectively on concurrent assignments with different priorities
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to our stakeholders and engineers
Drive changes for higher productivity and improved product quality
Bring innovation to improve resiliency and capabilities of products/platforms

Additional responsibilities:
On-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)
10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform ownership, data engineering, streaming data processing, ETL strategies, infrastructure engineering/system administration
Desired skills and qualifications:
Passion for mentoring team members and staying up to date on latest technologies and platforms
Experience with monitoring large-scale distributed systems, automation, containers, CI/CD pipelines, alerting, troubleshooting, DevOps tools (Kubernetes, Docker, Puppet etc.), Java, Python, GoLang, SQL and NoSQL data stores, messaging platforms (KAFKA, PubSub etc.)
Knowledge of OOP/OOD/Functional languages, concurrency, parallelism, networking, System design, data structures and algorithms
Experience in developing solutions for service monitoring, automated remediation, measuring availability and reliability, performance, analytics and network
Familiarity with building non-lossy data pipelines using streaming technologies (Flink, Google DataFlow or Spark) and batch/ETL systems.
Experience with REST API, GIT, Docker, Jenkins, RxJava, Spring Boot etc.
Experience with building and managing environments with cloud providers like Google, AWS and Azure.
Soft skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong sense of ownership and ability to work in fast-paced environment
