Focus of the Role
This role is responsible for the network design, deployment and project management of installation & commissioning activities on Telstra’s international transmission network as a transmission and an optical SME.

What You’ll Do
Global Networks & Technology - Network & Infrastructure Engineering designs and delivers Telstra's network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they're reliable, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
· Development of network solution design documentation
· Order, and project manage the delivery, installation & commissioning of network solutions to agreed timelines, quality performance and customer service levels.
· Build key stakeholder relationships with external vendors to assess technology platforms, deliver products & services and to meet growth and customer demands.
· Be recognised as a subject matter expert for transmission technology and platforms, particularly optical transmission, and provide expert support, consultancy, guidance and facilitation to other areas of Telstra in the preparation, business and technical evaluation of new technologies and product development.
· Maintain key OSS/BSS record systems to ensure accuracy with timely updates.
· Maintain and build expertise on Telstra’s networks and products, technologies and operating systems.
· Develop and maintain standard and best practice deployment documentation and reference material.
About You
Essential
· Previous experience in network engineering roles with a minimum of 3 years work experience.
· Strong knowledge of telecommunications technology – Ethernet, DWDM, OTN, SDH, PDH, MPLS-TP, Segment Routing.
· Strong competence in analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting and leadership. · Stakeholder & project management.
· Working knowledge of tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Excel, Sharepoint, Visio, Project.
Highly desirable
· Bachelor of Engineering/Telecommunications (or equivalent).
· Experience with using different telecommunications programming interface protocols – CLI, TL1.
· Familiar with vendor management systems (DNA, MCP).
· Familiar with vendor technologies (Infinera, Ciena, Ericsson).
· Familiar with inventory systems.
· Knowledge of installation and/or commissioning of telecommunications hardware.
· Submarine Telecommunications Cable Experience
