Manager, AML Compliance

This position is responsible for developing and implementing AML compliance programs, managing anti-money laundering requirements, and enforcing policies to reduce risk. This role includes supervising teams and collaborating globally to deliver insights that support compliance objectives and business growth.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support management of a sub-functional unit or distinct activity within the AML Compliance Program Development group.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies, procedures, and programs to minimize money laundering risk.
  • Assist department management in defining overall goals and initiatives.
  • Manage components related to anti-money laundering requirements for assigned functions.
  • Collaborate across global teams to ensure timely delivery of insights supporting compliance objectives and business growth.
  • Supervise staff positions and provide training, job performance counseling, and resource support.
  • Make decisions on moderately complex issues within scope of responsibility.
  • Provide periodic and comprehensive reporting to management on quality and productivity.
  • Keep abreast of changes in AML and regulatory policies.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in complex retail/consumer financial services, payment services organizations, or regulatory agencies/law firms involving AML compliance issues.
  • Minimum of 4 years in a management/supervisory role with multiple direct reports.
  • Understanding of retail/commercial and digital financial products/services.
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, and related laws/regulations.
  • 3–5 years of experience in AML compliance, general compliance, or risk-based compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to resolve moderately complex issues.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills; ability to coach and mentor senior employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Power BI (including DAX), Power Query, or similar data visualization tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, visuals, pivot tables, macros).
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (requires driver’s license, visa, and passport).
  • ACAMS certification is desired.
  • Ability to learn, apply industry standards, and exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Advanced English level is required.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, such as Portuguese and French, is a plus.
