Mission

 

Ensure that the projects made in house or outsourced are compliant with the contract and system requirements. Ensure that the BIM Process is correctly managed according to the Project needs and Hitachi Rail processes.

 

Accountabilities

 

Typical accountabilities of BIM Coordinator/Specialist as per international rules and best practices in the rail context. Here below a summary of the main ones:

 

  • Support for BIM Execution Plan preparation and update during the Tenders/Project life.
  • Support for Common Data Environment requirements definition and implementation in accordance with the Project delivery process.
  • Support for ownership and authority for Client’s BIM models, and Support for the Client’s BIM/CAD deliverables.
  • the BIM Design and Construction processes such that the highest quality of deliverables is submitted by consultants, supplier and/or subcontractors for project team reviews.
  • Support  for ensuring that there is a consistent approach to assets’ 3D modelling and the incorporating of the assets’ non-graphical data across the project, through utilizing of consistent and appropriate technologies.
  • Support to Develop a scope of services for the designers for BIM requirements.
  • Support to Develop a scope of services for prime and trade subcontractors for BIM requirements.
  • Support to Facilitate project kick-off meetings and follow-up activities.
  • Support to Ensure that the Team attends progress meetings with the Contracting Authority to review progress on execution to the BEP and MIDP.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings with project team, planners, engineers, designers, suppliers and sub- contractors.
  • Support to Follow up Design coordination issues through interface checking.
  • Support to Review with the BIM coordinators- the BIM documentation files (schedules and drawing sheets), model checkers, design clash detection, visual checks and QAQC checklists.
  • Support to Define and monitor a quality control program. Support to Ensure that the as-built model has the required data attached to it for the future operations and maintenance
  • Support to Work as part of a project team to achieve consistent results.
  • Support to Share BIM review meetings/workshops with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist procurement team in tender development i.e., BIM capability assessment, execution plan, models, registers, service agreements and appointments.
  • Support to Identify and assist in creating content to enhance digital asset and detail libraries.
  • Support to Leverage data collection for purposes of design intelligence and optimization.
  • Support to Ensure disciplines are sharing information through a controlled, ISO19650 compliant CDE and using each-others’ information effectively in a BIM environment.
  • Support IT to manage inventory of BIM software, licenses, and systems.
  • Support to Confirm supplier ability to deliver information requirements.
  • Support to Ensure compliance to all Safety and Security procedures related to his scope of Support to work.
  • Ensure the BIM Execution Plan is compliant, up-to-date, communicated and implemented within the Project

Required Skills/ Knowledge

Operative competence and experience of BIM in railway context in accordance with ISO 19650 and railway engineering expertise especially developed in the area of Civil works and Systems Design/Commissioning and Requirement/Interface management. 

 

Knowledge Expected:

           

Basic competences

  • Civil Works in railway context (buildings, viaducts, tunnels, permanent way, trackworks, etc.): design, installation, operation and maintenance
  • Basic about the Railway Systems: signaling, traction power (catenary included), telecommunication, MEPS, depot equipment, Rolling Stocks.
  • Sub-Contractors selection and management;
  • Purchase Technical Specification (PTS) preparation according to contract needs;
  • Technical support for contract matters;
  • Requirements and Interfaces definition/consolidation and management;
  • Familiar with Requirement Traceability Matrix and the Interface Registers tools, implemented in BIM context, using also a specific Common Data Environments (CDEs).
  • Design management of contractors and sub-contractor activities: contract requirements and design processes-control;
  • Full cycle basic-experience also in construction and test&commissioning phases.

Specific competences:

  • Proven expertise of BIM Process implemented in accordance with the international rules and best practices (ISO 19650).

Education

Civil Engineering University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background.

Languages

English Level at minimum B1.
