What you need to know about the role

The SMB Integrations Engineer – German Fluent, supports our merchants in the DACH region and their developers with the integration of PayPal products into their website. This is in collaboration with our Inside Sales team, to provide a smooth transition from the sales acquisition process to converting the integration to a transactional and live state.

Our current team of 17 Integrations Engineers are all based in Ireland, in the Dublin region, supporting SMB merchants in the EMEA market. We are a highly collaborative, motivated, and curious team.
We prioritize supporting each other daily, achieving more as one team directly through collaboration. Although we are in a mostly virtual environment, we endeavor to get together and collaborate in person regularly.

Your way to impact
 

As an SMB Integrations Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for client-side web developers who are integrating PayPal website payment solutions into e-commerce websites and other applications. You will be the primary technical point of contact throughout the integration lifecycle, overseeing all implementation-related activities for our merchants. You will drive proactive & reactive discussions, run presentations, facilitate demos, and provide sample integrations supporting the sales process.

Your day-to-day

In your day to day, you will:

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the merchant’s product, process, and technical requirements.
  • You’ll leverage a complete tech stack inclusive of: Web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RESTful API, Frameworks, etc.) server-side languages (PHP, Python, .Net, Node.js, etc.) and some of the server and database technologies (Apache, Nginx, ISS, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Match the merchants needs with existing PayPal solutions: assisting their teams in setting up test accounts, offering technical development support, and guiding them through testing, validation, certification, pre-launch activities, and post-sales performance.
  • Collaborate with the core project team, including pre-sale with the commercial/sales manager and post-sale with the technical account manager. You'll also work with internal PayPal business partners (legal, compliance, privacy, risk, operations, etc.) to ensure timely delivery of partner solution integration.
  • Implement optimal integration strategies with high quality, utilizing PayPal’s best practices. Additionally, you'll provide recommendations on support issues, act as the "Voice of the Customer," and relay constructive feedback to core Product, Engineering, and other internal groups.

What do you need to bring

Requirements:

  • Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, RESTful API, Frameworks, etc.)
  • Expertise in at least one of the server-side languages (PHP, Python, .Net, Node.js, etc.) and ability to read/understand others.
  • and some of the server and database technologies (Apache, Nginx, ISS, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Ability to influence and successfully interact with all levels of clients and internal stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starting, independent learner with a thirst for knowledge, proactive and customer-focused, and a leader who is passionate about creating delightful experiences for our partners.
  • Fluent German and English communication skills; both written and verbal as this role supports the DACH region.

Below experiences are a bonus:

  • Experience as an integration engineer, sales engineer, or technical consultant.
  • Understanding of online payment processing across web, mobile app, and in-store.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in working with enterprise organizations - preferably retailers, e-commerce, shopping carts and payment gateways.
