What you'll do-

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, IMS DB/DC, Assembler and CICS with Mainframe tools and utilities. Also, able to embrace new approaches with DevOps in mainframe environments and technology stack, esp.
  • Develop and execute unit tests and integration plans to ensure application changes meet technical specifications.
  • Debug and resolve technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of mainframe applications. 
  • Maintain detailed documentation of code, processes, and solutions. 
  • Identify and implement performance improvements and optimizations.  
  • Automation of repetitive tasks like building, testing, and deploying code.
  • Able to use modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio Code (VS Code) with extensions like Explorer for Endevor, Amazon Q, DevX, Zowe etc. to enhance developer productivity. 
  • Able to use / implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable faster and more reliable software releases.

  • Embrace Git for source code management in addition to Endevor to facilitate better teamwork and code version control. 
  • Open to new approaches to DevOps in mainframe environments involving modern development tools and processes, integrating mainframe-native tools with platform-agnostic tools, and leveraging AI and machine learning for refactoring, optimization, security and transformation.
