The auto express manager function is meant to be a partner to the business segments, offering support, expertise and partnership. The existing diversity of the business portfolio demands from the analice claims team role specialized expertise in the different business areas. The auto express team team works with the business to support a wide array of products and offerings, they process payments to suppliers and insured parties, and the team leader plays a key role in guiding the team to achieve its goals.

About the role

What you need to know:

Lead an express analysis team, focused on providing excellent service to insured parties and clients, work as part of a team, constantly motivating the personnel under your supervision, develop strategies to achieve desired service levels (NPS), define goals aligned with the department's objectives, and encourage your team to meet them.

Your contribution at AIG

Successfully leading a team of express analysts, maintaining performance within metrics, and being responsible for 700 claims per month.

 Duties and Responsibilities

1. Functional Responsibilities:

Manage the allocation of claims within their Complex team of adjusters

Provide a technical referral point for team members and manage performance,

Keep the (LoB) Senior Manager advised of key Complex loss developments and wider Complex trends. 

Execute strategic initiatives within their Complex team

Ensure Complex ‘Best Practice’ is maintained within their Complex team

Drive performance through required criteria

Ensure claims are accurately assessed and proactively reserved within agreed service levels

Embed use of balance scorecard/KPIs within team

2. Accountabilities:

Team performance

Team professional and technical development

Team communication

Team compliance

Effective resolution of Complex level claims handled by team adjusters

Accurate and consistent reserving and financial control of claims in Complex team

Mitigation of indemnity and expense spend for  Complex claims within their team

Performance manage the team to maximise best practice compliance and minimise lost economic opportunity within Complex claims segment.

Personal Development / Succession Planning for individuals within the Complex team.

Managing compliance with governance standards and  regulatory requirements within the Complex team.

Effective communication to all relevant stakeholders.

 3. Leadership Skills

 People and team management experience, including the proven ability to effectively manage team members

Ability to positively influence, in a multi-cultural environment, stakeholders at every level both internally & externally

Highly effective communicator (written, verbal, presentation, training)

Ability to deliver strategic directives internally while also marketing AIG claims expertise externally.

Broad range of leadership competencies, from direction and pace setting to coaching and effective listening.

Identify and address performance issues within the team

 4. Technical Skills and Expertise

§Fully developed specialist knowledge in (LoB) technical claims topics (as listed over page).

§Strong stakeholder management experience, both internal (underwriting, distribution, actuarial, finance and executive management) and external (brokers, major account clients)

§Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation

§A strong knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural  requirements

§Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills

§Experience in conducting technical claims audits and effectively following up on findings.

  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of claims management.
  • Along with technical skills required for the job, soft skills like effective broker engagement, teamwork, proactive management, effective time management/prioritization, calendar organization.
  • Effective analytical and attention to detail.
