Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – AVE (Missile) Interfaces Lead in support of the Sentinel program.  This position is located: Roy, Utah.

What You’ll Get To Do 

The AVE Interface Lead will be responsible for both technical and team oversight for the AVE Interfaces team. The lead will be responsible for guiding a team of 5+ members directly but will also be responsible for overseeing the overall interfaces work-content for the AVE portion of the Sentinel program (excluding verification models), along with supporting any external interfaces content. This position also requires working with the program Systems Engineering teams to coordinate changes to program interface process and satisfy the Sentinel contract SOW. This will include working with and leading interface efforts across the 5 AVE Element IPTs.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership and interface development skills to achieve program and contract requirements / objectives. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading Engineering teams.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc
  • Be proficient in the development of key interface artifacts.  These artifacts include Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Description Documents (IDDs), and Interface   
  • Requirements Specifications (IRSs) as well as their representations in the architecture model product (MBSE)
  • Drive consistency and completion of interface products across groups by participating in and leading interface working group and developing unifying interface development   procedures, and processes
  • Ensure appropriate coordination between interface team and other specialties within the AVE IPT
  • Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analyses for integrated systems
  • Prepare and present content in internal reviews and customer CDRs and flight design reviews, support CDRL deliveries
  • Formally receive interface products from sub-IPTs through their CDR campaign

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with a minimum of 9 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; 7 years with a master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Minimum 3 years Systems Engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years of DOORS or related experience
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO)
  • Experience with team leadership/management

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Direct development experience of interface products (IRS, IDD, ICD)
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development experience
  • Earned Value Management experience
  • Active TS//SCI Clearance with SAP clearance
  • ICBM/Missile experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of an integrated product team (IPT)
  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
