The Position

This role is an 1-year fix term contractor.

Johnson Controls seeks an experienced professional to serve as a Due Diligence Specialist within the Third Party Compliance Program.  The role will be based in the Shanghai, China office.

The Specialist will report solid line to the Legal Director, Third Party Compliance Program, based in Cork, Ireland with dotted line to Regional Compliance Counsel for APAC, based in Shanghai China. Specialist will work in conjunction with a large matrix of internal functions including our businesses, compliance, finance, internal audit and legal.

Due Diligence Responsibilities include:

  • Perform Third Party Due Diligence research and screening for all High Risk Third Parties.
  • Analyze results for decision-making and risk assessment on High Risk Third Parties globally.
  • Prepare and organize Due Diligence reports and summaries to be reviewed by the Legal Compliance department.
  • Collaborate and communicate between global Business Requestors, Third Parties, Regional Compliance Directors, Business Legal, and Ethics to complete records for each High Risk Third Party as well as status updates. 
  • Contribute to a sophisticated working knowledge of due diligence and investigations based on rigorous research methodology and identification and use of a range of information sources.
  • Maintenance and archival of all Due Diligence related documentation.
  • Train and assist users through knowledge of company policies, practices and processes as related to areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor, manage and respond to the internal Due Diligence email inbox.
  • Support Legal and Ethics and Compliance personnel as needed (e.g. transactional; due diligence; audits; litigation responses.)
  • Update our database so each third party has the correct workflow status.
  • Work directly with Business Sponsors and/or Management to follow-up on insufficient information & documentation and answer queries in a timely manner.
  • Conduct Due Diligence Refresh and Continuous Monitoring of approved third parties in line with Program rules.

Ad Hoc Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate Program messages and capture frequently asked questions.
  • Support the delivery of trainings to targeted audiences/businesses to help improve Program acceptance and compliance
  • Responsible for completing a quality review of all submitted documentation
  • Ensure all requests are responded to within the service level agreement timelines
  • Generate due diligence reports and dashboards to demonstrate Program metrics

Qualifications:

Candidates for Due Diligence Analyst, Third Party Compliance Program will possess the following skillset:

  • Fluent in both English and Chinese. Additional languages an advantage but not required
  • Excellent academic credentials including a minimum Bachelor’s degree in a legal or business discipline
  • Ability to perform as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • Proven track record of successfully performing in a complex, global program role
  • Experience supporting legal / compliance related functions in a global organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a global team framework and across multiple cultures
  • Proficient in technology used in the activities above
