Design, develop, test and support software for Red Hat AI, including work for LLM
application development, Agentic AI, MCP and platform observability.

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, Inc. office in Boston, MA.

What You Will Do

  • Translate business requirements and technical architecture into task breakdown, providing scope and timing estimates for the tasks, and then tracking and reporting completion of tasks.
  • Design, develop and test software in upstream open-source communities, as both a committer and PR provider, aligned with Red Hat product efforts.
  • Transition and align upstream software with product development streams, including integration with standardized build, test and compliance systems.
  • Act in the capacity as a Domain Expert in AI and Red Hat AI products, including use of Red Hat OpenShift for AI workloads, Llama Stack, and MCP for Agentic AI.
  • Use AI tools for development tasks, such as prompting for code generation and testing.
  • Evaluate and recommend LLM and LLM- based tool selection for these tasks.
  • Develop and present content explaining Red Hat AI product capabilities, including to external audiences.
  • Mentor junior associates in AI, software engineering, Red Hat products and open source development.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers to develop individual development plans for junior staff.
  • Collaborate with product security and product support teams to ensure rapid, accurate remediation of issues identified in Red Hat AI products.
  • Participate on calls and in meetings with customers to remediate software defects and instruct customers in the proper use of Red Hat OpenShift AI.

What You Will Bring

  • Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role.
  • Must have two (2) years of experience with: AI/machine learning usage and algorithm implementation, including numeric computing; enterprise scale software engineering, including systems and performance engineering; open source project committer status for at least one project not owned by candidate and PR contributions to 3 projects not owned by candidate; Python or Go; and Kubernetes or Linux development.

Salary: $154,606 - $220,680 / year. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
