About the Role
A Customer Quality Engineer is responsible to keep the communication with the customer to manage issues related to product quality delivered to OEM customers in an electrical or electronic component setting. This includes but is not limited to 0-km management, new product introduction and supplier quality. The Customer Quality Engineer represents the voice of the customer within Harman. You will work in cross-functional teams (program management, engineering, and operations) in addressing customer concerns for all manufacturing locations in North America and support other regions as needed.
The Customer Quality Engineer must lead the problem investigation with problem solving and quality tools, including customer specific requirements. You must be process disciplined, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the internal and customer organization. You must be able to meet deadlines and work to get the job done.
What You Will Do
Be the Quality interface and voice of the customer of the OEMs customer manufacturing plants.
Lead and coordinate activities for field containment at the customer location, assembly line investigation, and assembly plant yard hold management.
Provide outstanding customer support with investigation updates.
Conduct preventative quality visits at customer locations for a proactive quality approach.
Ensure follow up of quick response problem solving carried out for all 0KM & any development concerns and reported to OEM Customer.
Lead problem analysis and improvement efforts by applying the use of modern quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing principles and Six-Sigma methodologies.
Responsible for developing detailed knowledge of the customer’s product and processes for new projects.
Conduct internal audits at the manufacturing Harman locations according to customer specific requirements.
Participate during the RFQ reviews, active review of customer specific requirements and identify risks.
Be part of the Team 1 meetings representing the voice of customer. Support AQP activities with customer and Harman manufacturing to facilitate PPAP submission according to customer schedule.
Coordinate the new models first running, maturity gates, compliance assurance.
Meet with customer representatives to provide technical support for product functionality or processing concerns.
Investigate and recommend processes and improvements for resolving, eliminating, and preventing negative quality issues.
Recommend and drive improvements to facilitate customer satisfaction.
Responsible for scorecard management reviews and applying corrective actions to manage the customer scorecard to ensure positive ratings for our products.
Analyze, compile, review and regularly report customer quality metrics such as PPM/ 0km performance, customer scorecard. Develop presentations for quality reviews by internal (Customer Quality) and customer groups.
To represent the needs of the customer in internal functions according to the requirements of the Quality System.
Represent Harman at customer meetings, conferences, and training on behalf of the manufacturing plants and effectively deploy the information throughout the organization. Ensure Harman is current and in compliance with customer quality requirements.
What You Need to Be Successful
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree with a preference for engineering or equivalent (electrical, industrial, mechanical)
3 - 5 years of progressively responsible and successful experience in an automotive quality role in an operations environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience with automotive electronics, preferably audio and/or infotainment modules.
Must have 2+ years of experience using AIAG guidelines (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, FMEA, MSA, SPC)
Must have 2+ years of experience customer specific requirements.
Practical experience in root cause analysis using tools, Fault Tree Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Fish bone, Pareto, 5Y, Is-Is not, Cause and Effect, etc.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.
Experienced presenter
English Advanced, able to keep a conversation with colleagues and customer, read technical documentation.
Bonus Points if You Have
Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Problem solving methodology certification.
Knowledge in Electronic solder requirements (IPC 610, CQ-17)
ISO 9001 & IATF 16949
Risk analysis and management.
EOM portal management.
