Position Summary:
The Credit Risk Model Developer is part of Santander’s Model Development department and responsible for supporting the development and management of advanced regulatory-compliant risk rating and loss forecasting models for the Commercial Banking portfolios. These models are used to support multiple functions including underwriting, portfolio management, stress testing (HCR/DFAST) and loss reserve calculation (CECL/IFRS). The Credit Risk Model Developer is an expert resource in the fields of credit risk quantification and modeling and works closely with business leaders, risk management groups and regulatory authorities.
Position Duties:
Responsible for developing and enhancing advanced credit risk models
Produce accurate, concise and high-quality model build documentation
Ensure all model deliverables are of the highest standard and compliant with bank and regulatory standards
Create model performance monitoring reports on an ongoing basis and share results with various stakeholders
Support the implementation of the models managed by the group
Contribute to model development presentations for various audiences including credit officers, model users, internal audit and regulators
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or an equivalent quantitative field (Master’s Degree or PhD preferred)
2+ years of model development experience (or equivalent academic experience). Experience building models for financial institutions a plus
Expertise in statistical methodologies like regression, decision trees and clustering
SAS and SQL knowledge (needed), Excel, R, Python (optional)
Excellent written and verbal communication with a focus on detailed and clear technical writing
Team player, prepared to work under pressure close to deadlines
Can-do attitude, creative thinker with a proactive mindset
Eager and willing learner

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occassional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
