The Citrix Senior Engineer is responsible for owning the reliability, security, and resilience of the organization’s Citrix platforms while leading incident response, driving continuous improvement, and enabling scalable support across teams..  The Citrix Senior Engineer will contribute as a key member to projects dealing with the end-user experience and will build strong relationships within the business to ensure the success of these projects

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Position provides monitoring, troubleshooting, recovery, and problem escalation in a Citrix virtual environment.

  • Works with vendor support on evaluation and implementation of new technology.

  • Serve as a senior technical owner for Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and associated infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management.

  • Act as a primary escalation point for service-impacting incidents related to Citrix, including participation in after-hours incident response as required.

  • Lead or actively contribute to Severity 1 incident investigation and resolution, coordinating with internal teams and vendors to restore service quickly and prevent recurrence.

  • Design, execute, and validate disaster recovery (DR) procedures and participate in scheduled Technical Resilience (TR) exercises.

  • Ensure timely application of Citrix, Windows, and infrastructure security updates, including alternative patching strategies when standard tools are insufficient.

  • Maintain platform alignment with vendor support models (e.g., Citrix LTSR) and organizational security standards.

  • Support audits and compliance initiatives by maintaining documentation and evidence of security and resilience controls.

  • Leverage automation, scripting, and AI tools to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and standardize recurring administrative tasks.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify complex environments and reduce operational risk through design and process improvements.

  • Actively contribute to knowledge transfer and documentation, ensuring procedures, troubleshooting steps, and recovery processes are well documented and accessible.

  • Support the upskilling of L2/L3 support teams, helping reduce dependency on single individuals and improve overall team resilience.

  • Collaborate with peer engineers and stakeholders to ensure shared understanding of platform ownership and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience in infrastructure engineering or platform support roles.

  • Prior experience acting as a technical SME or escalation point in a production environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops in enterprise environments.

  • Experience supporting Windows-based infrastructure in complex, multi-environment organizations.

  • Experience with incident management, root-cause analysis, and high-availability design.

  • Experience using automation and AI-assisted tools to improve troubleshooting, scripting, or operational workflows.

  • Understanding of monitoring tools and proactive alerting for infrastructure platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with security, networking, architecture, and support teams.

  • Comfortable communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Willingness to document work and share knowledge to enable broader team success.

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply enterprise AI tools and technologies to support technical workflows and business objectives.
