To execute on the strategy and enable all the regions to serve investors both efficiently and effectively our International Product Engineering (IPE) division is core to our success. The primary goals for International Product Engineering are to deliver the highest value solutions and maximise reuse to accelerate and enable International and regional priorities.

In this role, the Regional International Product Engineering (IPE) Lead partners with teams in APAC and the International Product Engineering teams to strategically advise on technology, education, and process innovation for meeting our organisations objectives and key results. This role’s primary responsibility is realise value from our IPE partners through adoption of existing capabilities and shaping new capabilities in alignment with APAC and international priorities. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Building productive working relationships with key regional and international partners to ensure recommendations and priorities are understood by all impacted parties. Leverage influencing and negotiation skills to champion optimal solutions. Acting as an advocate for change to introduce new technologies and processes to shape the business strategy.
  • Translates business problems into strategic and cost-effective technology solution alternatives. Leverages broad IT knowledge to research emerging technologies and apply to business problems. Creates blueprint capabilities for software, middleware and hardware deliverables. Ensures all deliverables comply with IT policies and procedures.
  • Partners with business and IT leaders to align business initiatives, priorities, and schedules based on strategic business and IT plans.
  • Influences the broad organization by leveraging knowledge of existing technology solutions and options, and the research that needs to be done to find new options. Connects recommendations back to local AU and global (IPE) value.
  • Owns and manages the capability landscape for one or more lines of business and its product owners as the business and the industry evolves. Develops deep knowledge of the business area(s) supported and the competitive landscape to provide context for decision-making.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of business functions. Combines technical and functional knowledge to produce highly functional solutions to business problems.
  • Participates in change management and IPE solution adoption duties.

What we are looking for

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 10 + years software engineering experience. Experience developed within investment management or financial services would be highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud-native software systems using modern software practices such as continuous delivery, DevOps techniques, shift-left quality assurance, test-driven development and clean code approaches.
  • You will bring outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, along with exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience in a global environment with a demonstrated ability in driving results and efficiently contributing to innovative customer solutions.
  • You understand targets and timelines and have an ability to transform ambiguity into solutions through collaboration and creativity.

Specializations that will make an impact

  • Knowledge of cloud/AWS development and engineering best practices is highly desired
  • Experience in designing and building scalable and highly available client facing solutions and its associated technologies, including micro-services, real time data streaming and event driven architecture.
  • Experience driving strategic solution discovery, managing senior stakeholders, and aligning solution recommendations with short- and long-term goals highly desired.
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines – Bamboo, GitHub, Maven, Bitbucket etc.
  • Any experience with inner sourcing and reuse principles/culture, patterns and frameworks is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of the Financial Services Industry, in particulate investment management, advice and superannuation.
  • Capability to question the status quo, challenge yourself and others to think out of the box on the value that will be delivered to our clients and advisers.
