Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space Mission System Division seeks Cloud Solution Architects to join our team in Herndon, Virginia.  We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  We work all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

You will support a proprietary program in the Northern Virginia area.  This program is dynamic and exciting, providing the opportunity to work within and learn a broad range of engineering disciplines.  This role will focus on translating customer needs into detailed requirements for system integrated design.  As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will work in a dynamic team environment and collaborate with several types of engineering disciplines to execute tasks on-quality and on-time.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage cloud services and resources such as virtual machines, storage, and networking.
  • Monitor the performance and availability of cloud systems to ensure they meet the organization’s needs.
  • Implement and manage security controls, such as firewalls, encryption, and identity and access management (IAM) policies.
  • Ensure that the cloud environment complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Write scripts and use automation tools to manage and deploy cloud infrastructure efficiently.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage to manage and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot cloud-related issues.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex problems.
  • Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to cloud systems and services.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure is up to date with latest software versions and security patches.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of cloud infrastructure, processes, and configurations.
  • Generate regular reports on cloud system performance, security, and usage.
  • Work closely with developers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that cloud systems meet business requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders to explain cloud infrastructure and its impact on the organization.
  • Forecast and plan for future cloud infrastructure needs based on current and projected usage.

This position is fully onsite in Herndon, VA.


This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance.  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

This position is contingent on clearance verification and customer concurrence.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience as a system administrator.
  • IAM Level 1 DoD 8140.01 (previously 8570.01) compliant certification (i.e. CAP, GSLC, Security+ CE, CISSP, CASP, CISM, GSLC).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with MongoDB, Traefik, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, GitLab, and Terraform.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range:  132,600 – 179,400.
