Business Lending Pricing Analyst
Your Business
Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers.
Business Lending (BL) is a product and specialised sales team that offers working capital, business loans, asset finance, corporate finance, and property finance to our customers. It also has responsibility for Line 1 risk and controls for these products. BL is directly responsible for product management, process management, portfolio and pricing management. It works closely with bankers, data and analytics, digital and customer experience teams.
Your Team
The Pricing & Capital Team is accountable for Business Lending price settings and approvals, optimisation of capital efficiency for business lending customers, and analysis of relationship and portfolio returns to drive the Business Bank’s strategic growth objectives and risk adjusted returns.
Your Responsibilities
You will be primarily responsible for managing the Business Lending pricing requests, reviewing submitted scenarios and working with the frontline to optimise revenue and risk adjusted measures of performance. Specifically this will involve:
Working with the team and the frontline to decision escalated pricing requests for Business Lending deals
You will assist in the management of the pricing inbox and frontline pricing escalations to approve Business Lending deals, directly influencing the composition of the portfolio
You will help educate the frontline on best-in-class pricing behaviours and assist in structuring deals
You will consider the volume/margin tradeoff and the overall Business Banking strategy when considering requests
Helping generate, implement and test the robustness of portfolio pricing strategies
Using the insights from the team, you will also help to generate ideas and take them through to implementation. This will involve:
Designing and monitoring pricing strategies that optimise client and stakeholder value
Selecting and applying the most appropriate analytic frameworks, tools and data to test hypotheses
Collaborating with other members of Business Lending and other teams across CBA to drive the effective use of data/insights
Your Experience/Skills Required
Ability to engage proactively with the frontline to manage pricing requests and escalation. Strong focus on ability to communicate clearly and constructively
A commercial mind-set to transform data into business outcomes
Strong quantitative / problem-solving mind-set to be able to deal with ambiguity and incomplete information
Robust understanding of applied finance, investments and portfolio performance
Desirable: previous experience working in a commercial lending and/or business bank context
