Overall Purpose

The Market Development Manager (MDM) reports to the Director of Market Development to establish and produce revenue in targeted markets supporting the Company AOP objectives.

The MDM has demonstrated market expertise with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in stormwater monitoring, or flood monitoring, or surface water monitoring. That expertise includes a deep understanding of market drivers and their applications, awareness of market trends, and being knowledgeable of the competitive landscape.

The MDM leverages this knowledge to identify, quantify, qualify, and pursue account opportunities. The MDM regularly interfaces, communicates, and coordinates with the Company Sales team members to leverage relationships and contacts. As appropriate, the MDM teams with Sales to develop and implement account strategies towards the objective of acquiring profitable revenues.

The MDM works closely with customers to identify applications and to develop successful solutions towards building a strong, well-served business base.

The MDM researches, monitors, assesses, and regularly reports on market opportunities, and competitive trends.  Accordingly, the MDM will make recommendations to Product Management for innovative, competitive solutions to address emerging market opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identification of customer and market segments.
  • Market and account strategy development and implementation.
  • Identifying and developing target accounts.
  • Developing ongoing working relationships with the Company Sales team leveraging established customer contacts.
  • Building a strong sales funnel that drives revenue growth to meet AOP goals.
  • Providing regular feedback to Product and Marketing groups on trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Maintaining accurate activity records in CRM and producing regular forecasts and reports as requested.
  • Developing application expertise and being a dependable, knowledgeable resource.
  • Identifying, targeting, and developing strategic target accounts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A minimum of 5-years strategic business development in storm and surface water market segments experience with a strong, demonstrable track record of revenue development.
  • Able to show previous development and implementation of a successful revenue development growth plan.
  • Able to demonstrate and provide examples of exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experienced and able to build relationships, work well with a team and across functions, and work independently.
  • Can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the storm, flood warning, or surface water monitoring markets.
  • Proven verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Aptitude for understanding and advancing technology.
  • Four-year degree from an accredited institution with preference for a STEM degree.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $94,600.00 - $141,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
