Job Summary

Exciting opportunity to join the ConocoPhillips Australia Team as Marine Lead.

Position Overview

The Marine Lead reports to the Integrated Operations Manager and is responsible for leading the ABU Marine Technical Function. This role provides technical direction to APLNG Downstream Marine Operations and other ABU marine‑related activities, while managing all marine technical processes, procedures, and tools to support safe, simple and effective marine operations across ABU.

The role provides leadership and guidance to the Marine Specialists and works closely with key ABU stakeholders to deliver high‑quality marine technical support services.

This role is based in Brisbane, with travel to the APLNG Facility on Curtis Island and to Gladstone on an as required basis.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish processes and procedures to ensure vessels used in APLNG Downstream Operations comply with marine vetting criteria.

  • Complete LNG Vessel to APLNG Downstream Terminal compatibility assessments.

  • Ensure competent Marine Specialist or Loading Master coverage is provided on Production Operations shifts.

  • Support relationships between Gladstone Ports Corporation, Maritime Safety Queensland and APLNG Downstream Marine Operations.

  • Share results of APLNG marine audits with key stakeholders and establish processes to ensure all findings are addressed in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with other APLNG Downstream Operations functions to build and maintain strong working relationships in support of marine activities.

  • Collaborate with the Integrated Operations Lead and Integrated Production Planning Lead to deliver marine vetting support for all new vessels arriving at the APLNG Terminal. 

  • Other tasks as required by the Integrated Operations Manager.

You will bring to the role

  • Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values.

  • Class 1 Master Mariners Certificate of Competency.

  • Minimum 10 years of seagoing experience on LNG tankers and minimum 5 years as a Senior Officer on board, i.e. Chief Officer or Master.

  • Strong planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Flexible and problem-solving mindset to support the resolution of potential unplanned events.

Preferred

  • Degree in Nautical Science or equivalent.

  • Previous experience supervising a marine functional team.

  • Sailed on Membrane and Moss type vessels.
