A Brief Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for all the aspects of projection related works including but not limited to USGAAP and USSTAT reporting/analysis, local ESR reporting/analysis, local statutory projection, embedded value reporting, business planning and various other global/regional/local initiatives. The role will provide the candidate with broad exposure to actuarial valuation knowledge, including the opportunity to learn about and contribute to high-profile projects including Japan ESR.

What you will do

  • Support the production of USGAAP/USSTAT reporting and projections.
  • Support the production of Japan ESR results and local statutory projection
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of the valuation and reporting process by developing any change in practices to improve work efficiency, e.g., by different approach, streamlining data requirements, automation, etc.;
  • Support any modelling enhancement for assigned business;
  • Compliance controls and audit checks on the valuation data and bases;
  • Potential involvement in management reporting on US GAAP (LDTI basis); and
  • Work closely with Finance, Administration and Pricing Teams to achieve goals; and
  • Support other ad hoc analysis as required


Qualifications

  • 2+ Years work experience in life insurance/reinsurance companies, with the knowledge of Japan life insurance market/products is preferred.
  • Prophet/AXIS modeling experience is preferred and a good understanding of SQL, Excel, VBA is required
  • Strong analytical, data management skills, work attitudes to details and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
  • Highly motivated, conceptual thinker who is able to collaborate in a team environment or work independently is required.
  • Associate of Society of Actuaries, the institute of Actuaries of Japan or other equivalent actuarial bodies is preferred but not required
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written English required
  • Good communication skills – verbal and written Japanese preferred
