Who will you be working with?

Our L&M Radiator Inc., business is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Wabtec and assist with the R&D team and onsite technical projects.

How will you make a difference?

The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining technology solutions in the L&M business and Freight Components space. As part of this role the Software Engineer would be working closely with the Functional and Technical leads across various applications, COE and Infrastructure teams to deliver right business outcomes.

What do we want to know about you?

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and/or 4 years of applicable experience in information technology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Object-Oriented programming.
  • Experience with .NET framework (VB, C#, ASP).
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, Oracle DB, and SQL.
  • Ability to work under pressure and establish priorities.
  • Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.
  • Use of electronic devices and communication tools needed.
  • Work independently and with fellow employees.
  • Dependability under both supervised and unsupervised conditions.

  • Prior Experience in software product development
  • Strong analytical and Influencing skills with proven experience to design / develop solutions in a matrix / global environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • High energy, Customer Passion & attention to details
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability
  • Ability to explore open-source libraries, eager to learn new technologies.
  • Strong desire to experiment, use new tools and techniques
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and having the ability to navigate ambiguous situations 

What will your typical day look like?

  • Full stack development, including software design, development and maintenance of software solutions that are Microsoft .NET and other legacy solutions from the same tech stack
  • Experience in assessing application performance and optimizing it through design and best coding practices, adhere to all the software architectural and Security standards, plus support the upgrade of legacy apps to modern application solutions
  • Own the solutions roadmap of business applications, including application and server management
  • Maintain, modify, and debug existing applications and software solutions.
  • Maintain documentation of all custom applications and change logs.
  • Assist, guide and troubleshoot with the Support team application related issues of local users
  • Participate with Functional discussions to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meets the needs
  • Skilled in build, release & deployment processes
  • Experience on Cloud, AWS or Azure is added advantage

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Employee is regularly required to work with a computer for 8 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.
  • Employee might be required to move office computer/networking around occasionally
  • The Position requires the employee to be on-site to enable effective collaboration with various stakeholders and continually assess site technology needs to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Requires significant face-to-face interaction with employees on production line and other functions at the site.

Work Environment:

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise

This position may provide relocation for a candidate that meets qualifications and eligibility requirements.
