Job Details:

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, is located in Warner Robins, GA. MERC provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers.

MERC has an immediate opening in the Aircraft Directorate for an Engineer with aerospace/structures experience. Responsibilities of the position include participating in a dynamic team of skilled engineers conducting physics-based analyses and reliability/design calculations.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designing and performing detailed engineering efforts.
  • Providing detailed cross-functional engineering communication, design, evaluation, and implementations achieving novel and unique functionality and capability.
  • Technical interface with present and perspective customers.
  • Providing detailed technical information to program managers including cost, schedule, and technical risk assessments at all stages of implementation through multi-disciplined engineering applications.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • US Citizenship
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field (e.g., EE, ME, AE, IE, SW, CE, Computer Science, etc.) from an ABET accredited institution; or a Master’s degree in same and 1 year of directly related experience; or an undergraduate degree in same and 2 years of directly related experience.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with basic principles of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and stress calculations. 
  • Experience in using NASTRAN, AFGROW, NX, LSDYNA, ABAQUS, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Python/, LabView, ANSYS, or other modeling tools.
  • Experience with structural testing, instrumentation, and data reduction.

Final rank will be determined on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
