Role Definition:
Creates, implements and improves Hydraulic Cylinder through Caterpillar processes, techniques, tools to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality. 

Degree Requirement:

B.E. / ME / M.Tech (Mechanical  /Mechatronics/ Automobile / Production/Engineering Design)

Experience:

7-10 years of Overall Experience, with minimum 3-5 yrs. of Experience in Hydraulic Cylinder design.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Design & Development of the Hydraulic cylinders for Construction and Earth moving machines
  • Conduct Concept and Detailed Design Reviews with the Hydraulic Systems & Product Engineering teams for NPI, NTI programs.
  • Support resolving Current Product Issues (CPI) using DMAIC process and responsible for Hydraulic Cylinders DPU control.
  • Project management – Collaborating with Hydraulic Systems, Machine Structures Hydraulic Integration teams.
  • Analyse Cylinder Pressure data & stress/strain performance data against virtual validation
  • Release and maintain Hydraulic Cylinder Bill of material
  • Collaborate with the Global/Regional purchasing and manufacturing facility teams to support the product quality & cost targets, supplier process audit, sourcing, PPAP/APQP process validation
  • Troubleshoot field failures, Warranty claims, factory issues, Cost reduction project requires component evaluation / redesign
  • Conduct competitive assessments at Component level
  • Define and execute the Virtual, On machine validation plan through DFMEA, DFMA and DVP&R
  • Reliability & Warranty analysis

Industry Knowledge:

  • Experience in Mining / Construction equipment cylinder designs.

Technical:

  • Material selection for Cylinder assembly & its components
  • Proficient in manufacturing processes Castings, Machining, Forging, Welding, Fasteners
  • Exposure to Cylinder manufacturing process / factory layout
  • Exposure to Metrology methods for hydraulic cylinder components.
  • Experience in Auditing the manufacturing process for mechanical components.
  • Basic awareness in ISO/NFPA Standards for Hydraulic components, Hoses & tubes.
  • Experience in component life predictions using virtual & physical performance data.

Tools:

  • Simulation: Ansys /Creo simulate
  • PLM: Creo / Teamcenter
  • Data acquisition -analysis tools

Soft Skill:

  • Effective communication
  • Fluent in English
  • Good presentation
