An Assembler is a multi-skilled employee that will work in different departments according to production demand that performs a wide variety of activities associated with product assembly and finishing in sub-assembly, final assembly, and testing processes. The work is performed according to assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, standard operation procedures and parts list.

Essential functions:

  • Assembles equipment components, sub-assemblies, and accessories, as required for the assigned stage of production
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specification, bills of material and other written instruction or procedures to accurately assembly equipment and products
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the products meet quality standards
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Safely use various hand, air, and power tools
  • Inspect, test, and verify accuracy of assembled article for conformance to standards, using measuring or testing equipment, or by visual examination
  • Actively participate in problem prevention and problem solving as part of AFS’s ongoing continuous improvement
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to training made available by the company
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and manager’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output
  • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers
  • Report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate manager and human resources and immediately correct unsafe conditions to the best of own ability
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be mechanically inclined and good with hand and power tools
  • Ability to work with a Hoist and/or Crain
  • Basic math requirements, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to safely perform single or repeated manual lifts of up to 50 lbs.

Work environment:

  • Exposure to manufacturing environment
  • Noise level may vary from moderate to noisy/loud in the plant area 
  • Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed
