About this unit  

The Blodgett Emergency Department (BL ED) is a certified Primary Stroke Center, Level III Trauma Center, and Geriatric Emergency Department (Level 2), There are over 30 care spaces to treat patients with minor to major medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary team members collaborate closely to provide relationship-based care for our patients and their loved ones. BL ED has over 43,000 visits/year and ranks highly in patient experience and exceeds throughput measures compared to the national average.

Scope of work  

Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.  Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.  Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.  

Start Dates:

This role has specific start dates each year, with one start date a month. Any offers must be completed 2 weeks prior to this start date with no exceptions. Upcoming start dates are as follows:

Qualifications 

  • Hight School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
  • >6 months Patient Care Experience Preferred
