Idaho Power — located in vibrant Nampa, Idaho — is looking for a temporary Education and Outreach Energy Advisor to join our Customer Operations team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable, affordable, clean energy they depend on. This position is based in Caldwell at Idaho Power’s Canyon Operations Center location. We offer a flexible schedule with the opportunity to work up to 40% remotely.

What does an Education and Outreach Energy Advisor do for us?

The Education and Outreach Advisor is a key representative for Idaho Power in community outreach, education, and public relations. They develop and maintain relationships with local service organizations (i.e. Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, senior centers). They coordinate regional volunteer activities (e.g., rake-up events, paint events, local fund-raising events). They help maintain Idaho Power's presence with customers through educational outreach to public audiences. They promote a better understanding of Idaho Power and the electrical utility industry by serving as a liaison through positive public interaction to enhance the company's mission, values, and brand identity.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

OR

  • Equivalent combination of formal education and experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, communication, or business-related field

Experience:

  • 3 years of utility experience, demonstrated presentation experience with emphasis to public audiences

OR

  • 4 years of directly related experience in public/community/education/media relations

Preferred:

  • Experience and course work in public relations and speech/communication or an equivalent combination of appropriate training that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop and squat, ascend/descend stairs, ladders, climb in to and out of vehicles; twist, kneel, balance; rarely crawl. Rarely lift 10 lbs. shoulder height and above; rarely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. waist high and knee high; rarely use exertional force less than 50 lbs.; occasionally use two hands to carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. and one hand to carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. Frequent grasping and using fine hand manipulation for small hand tools, driving, computer keyboard. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Conduct presentations after regular business hours. Occasional overnight travel. As needed may participate in media promotional campaigns.

Temporary employees are eligible to apply for internal job postings. Internal, regular employees who are successful candidates will be placed as regular employees in a Temporary Duty Assignment job classification. In order for your current position to be held for your return, qualified employees must have supervisory approval to participate and have been in their current position for at least six months.
