The Defense Systems Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for an Industrial Hygienist to work in our Huntsville, Alabama office. Primary Responsibilities.

The Industrial Hygienist will assist leadership to resolve health issues by identifying risks, and by implementing mitigations, policies, and programs. Candidate will conduct training and presentations to ensure employee awareness of occupational health developments, execute monitoring programs, initiate corrective actions and halt operations where necessary.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing EH&S surveys and worksite audits to ensure Safety and Environmental compliance.
• Advising and collaborating with management to resolve occupational health issues.
• Executing monitoring and assess employees' exposure to health risks, and measuring effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies, and procedures.
• Assessing and analyzing research data, summarizing statistics and compiling reports.
• Implementing programs to protect employee health, and ergonomics.
• Conducting regular audits of programs.
• Ensuring employee awareness of occupational health and safety concerns, programs and regulations by conducting training and presentations.
• Implementing corrective actions and suspending operations if required.
• Working with Human Recourses on workers' compensation claims pertaining to workplace exposures.
• Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.

Basic Qualifications.

• Position requires a BS degree from an accredited university in chemistry or related field.
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
• 5+ years work experience in similar role.
• Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
• Candidate must have computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
• Candidate must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Should exhibit leadership abilities
• Should exhibit good organizational skills
• BS in EH&S or related discipline.
• CIH, CSP, CHMM certifications.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.
• Some travel may be required, typically no more than 10%

Candidates must be local to the North Alabama area. Candidate will primarily work from Leidos’ Huntsville, AL and Decatur, AL facilities with flexibility for situational telework

Pay Range:

Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
