Graduation from an accredited physician assistant or medical program.
Master’s degree.
Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
At least three years of clinical experience as a practicing physician assistant or physician.
Eligibility for professional licensure in the state of Arkansas.
Strong commitment to supporting the missions of the department, college, and university.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree.
Teaching experience in physician assistant education or a related field.
Five or more years of clinical experience.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities
Participate in the design, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and revision of the didactic and clinical curricula.
Support the ARC-PA continuing accreditation application and maintenance processes.
Assist with developing, reviewing, and revising the program’s mission statement, goals, and competencies.
Participate in ongoing program self-assessment and evaluation activities, including the Annual Program Assessment Retreat.
Serve as course director for assigned didactic courses.
Recruit and orient qualified lecturers for didactic courses.
Instruct physician assistant students in areas of knowledge and expertise.
Provide academic advising to physician assistant students.
Ensure remedial instruction is available to students as needed.
Participate in student recruitment, admissions, and interviews.
Provide laboratory instruction during the didactic and clinical phases of the program.
Evaluate student performance by grading written assignments, examinations, Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), practical skill competencies, and oral presentations.
Participate in faculty meetings and retreats, as well as departmental, college, and university committees.
Maintain current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
Participate in appropriate local, state, and national physician assistant educational and professional associations.
Participate in clinical practice or research activities based on the tenure-track or non-tenure-track appointment, as determined by the Department Chair/Program Director.
Maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity while serving as a positive role model for physician assistant students.
Refrain from serving as a medical provider for students enrolled in the Physician Assistant program.
Participate actively in community service and service-learning activities associated with the Physician Assistant program.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair/Program Director.
