Northrop Grumman is seeking Acoustics/Structural Engineers for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Sunnyvale, CA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors division, Marine Systems business unit, Structures & Acoustics organization. Marine Systems is a leading provider of missile launcher systems, propulsion systems, and power generation systems for naval submarines and surface ships.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be a student who is enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2025

• Be majoring in or having majored in Acoustics, Underwater Acoustics, Acoustical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree

• Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2025
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

• The ability to obtain Special Access Program within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
• Experience/coursework related to acoustics and/or underwater acoustics
• Experience with structural analysis
• Experience with Matlab
• Ability to perform vibration, modal, and direct frequency response analysis

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Bachelor's: $20.25 - $37.25/hour

Master's, PhD: $29.25 - $46.25/hour
