Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.

Capital Structuring is made up of a number of customer centric product specialists who partner with relationship bankers to originate, structure, execute and monitor lending & leasing facilities. We provide the core end to end product and pricing infrastructure supported by a disciplined approach to governance that enables us to manage financial and non-financial portfolio risks. The team includes Credit Portfolio Management, Structured Asset Finance, Securitisation, Private Equity & Structured Finance, Global Lending Product & Transformation, and Line 1 Operational Risk & Control.

Structured Asset Finance (SAF) forms part of the Capital Structuring (CapS) team within IB&M and combines strong corporate finance and transaction structuring expertise to solve complex strategic client problems across industry sectors.  SAF provides innovative & bespoke financial solutions for our client’s business-critical revenue generating mostly moveable assets; focusing on solutions supported by asset security or asset ownership. The key objectives of the SAF team strategy is to target large asset pools and capex in: (i) Energy transition assets at scale such as EV’s/ZEBs; (ii) significant government spending (iii) supporting asset service providers and aggregators in renewables, technology, logistics, medical equipment and agri; and (iv) large scale annual capex sectors such as aviation and mining.

The core purpose of the role is to:

• Originate new SAF business opportunities 
• Proactively advise, structure, model, price and execute SAF product solutions tailored to the needs of clients across ecosystem in the Client Coverage teams;
• Develop deal flow from clients across all ecosystems; and
• Deliver SAF and other structured solutions that meet the business objectives of our clients and the Bank.

You will be required to assist the Structured Asset Finance team to originate, structure and execute structured solutions across the IB&M client base.

In performing this role you will:

• support the Bank’s strategy through the origination and execution of new SAF business opportunities;
• be responsible for supporting the origination, structuring, modelling and execution of SAF products to make a positive impact for our clients and the Bank;
• develop pitch and marketing material;
• co-ordinate with product teams and other ecosystems to deliver the Bank’s full value proposition whilst ensuring our regulatory requirements are met;
• As a member of the SAF Origination & Structuring team, you will engage with client coverage bankers, and subject matter experts to prepare pitch and marketing material for prospective opportunities where SAF and structured solutions may solve key business problems for clients of IB&M;
• Pro-actively review and analyse market and industry trends, company strategy and financial statements to identify and originate opportunities where structured solutions may solve key business problems, including for new to bank clients;
• Support the SAF Origination and Structuring team to engage clients on the merits of SAF and structured solutions through understanding their strategic corporate finance objectives, including demonstrating clearly through verbal and written presentation how the solutions will meet these objectives;
• Support the SAF Origination and Structuring team to develop bespoke SAF and other structured solutions to solve complex business problems through a deep understanding of corporate finance strategy and principles, accounting and tax implications, risk management considerations and the product and distribution capability of IB&M;
• Assist with the execution and negotiation of relevant transaction documentation;
• Contribute to the development of new and bespoke structured product capability within IB&M, including through engagement with internal and external advisers; and
• Assist in the credit analysis and financial modelling required to prepare credit submissions.
