About Our Team:

The US Personal Bank Technology space is home to deeply talented colleagues that work to design, build and test customer products and platforms end-to-end. They not only scale and mature solutions to acquire and grow our customer base, but they also support platforms and frameworks, champion engineering excellence and enhance the customer digital experience around partnerships, servicing, lending, marketing rewards, and offers and payments.

As a Digital Software Engineering Group Manager, you will be working within Citi’s Digital Platforms & Marketing team, leading and managing our application development teams focused on creating innovative digital solutions. This role will oversee the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of digital applications that enhance our customer experience. As an ideal candidate for this role, you’ll have a deep understanding of modern application development practices, experience with leading teams in an Agile environment, and a strong focus on customer-centric solutions. You’ll lead a team that will consist of employees and contractor resources in the US and offshore.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)

  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues

  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards

  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals

  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources

  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Software/Application Development, with a focus on Digital or Customer-Facing applications.

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with an understanding of regulatory requirements.

  • 10+ years of experience managing large development teams or application development groups.

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering complex digital transformation projects.

  • Experience in designing and managing microservices-based applications.

  • Experience in developing, deploying and maintaining stateless micro services in Pivotal Cloud Foundry using Spring Boot and reactive programming using Spring WebFlux.

  • Expertise in designing services that are resilient to failure and fault tolerance using Netflix Eureka and Hystrix/Resilience4J, as well as distributed session and caching experience using Gemfire/Redis

  • Highly Proficient in designing and developing RESTful and stateless APIs following the 12-factor app methodology.

  • Proven experience in software engineering, with a deep understanding of programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, or Google Cloud.

  • Experience with front-end (React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end (Node.js, Java Spring) development frameworks.

  • Expertise in implementing DevOps practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience managing development teams in Agile environments using frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.

  • Demonstrated professional credibility in Domain Driven Design, Test Driven Development methodologies and designing data models using MongoDB/No SQL.

  • Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, including OWASP, and experience with data encryption, identity management, and compliance with data protection regulations.

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field

  • Master’s degree preferred
